A Bridge Worth Crossing!

June 5, 2006 17:48 by dogstar

Old Bridge is one of my top three gelato places in Rome. I am particularly fond of the Banana and Bacio (chocolate with nuts) flavors.

I do ask myself? if it were in a bigger place, would it be such a sensation? Nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd and since it's just a hole in the wall, the place is always crowded!

By the way, it's right across from where the line for the Vatican museum usually starts (near Piazza Risorgimento in front of Benedict XVI new bronze door), so why not spoil yourself while you wait?

I second dogstar's review. I love the Old Bridge ice cream. It's one of the first places I take friends when they come to visit. My favorite combination is chocolate and coconut. One thing to note: portion size! A small is much bigger than you think... and the medium and large are enormous. Oh, and try the whip cream! ("panna" in Italian.)

The ice cream is incredible. They are quite generous with their servings. So eat a lite dinner and enjoy an amazing treat. Of the 4 gelato places I ate at while visiting Rome it was the best!

The Old Bridge is an essential stop when visiting Rome. No trip to the Vatican is complete without a pause to enjoy incredible gelato in the Roman heat!

One of My Favorites!

Old Bridge is great, the staff is friendly, and the ammaretto gelato is to die for! I only wish they had more flavors (like cinnamon, chocolate mint, or panna cotta with a caramel ribbon, yum!) However, the flavors they DO have are heavenly, especially that ammaretto, with the crunchy bits of ammar...

Sweet-Flavored Relief from the Summer Heat!

Some of you may wonder if your gelato will even last long enough for you to eat it in this heat. Well, considering the portion size they deliver at Old Bridge (which probably goes unmatched in all of Rome), you'd have to lick pretty fast to keep that medium or large-sized cone from ending up in you...

Gelato in February and My Flavor Combo of the Month

February 12, 2008 22:44 by CharlieQ

Tonight marked my first visit to Old Bridge in 2008. I jokingly asked Antonello what the new flavors of the year were (I've never gotten the impression that they change much), but he surprised me with a determined scan of the tubs of gelato.

"Ah, arrancia! Proprio di stagione......

No visit to the Vatican Museum is complete without stopping for gelato at Old Bridge. It's the best in Rome (and I've sampled many).
